Faith is usually specific in terms of its object or target. A person might have faith for finances and yet lack faith for deliverance from an unwanted habit. Faith is generally activated as a result of hearing (receiving) some words or information.
Hearing positive words can produce confidence, inspire you and spur you to action in some way. But this may not necessarily be real faith. Sometimes such inspiration can propel you to take an action that is not in sync with your God given purpose. This is not the kind of faith I am talking about.
True faith drive a person to take action that are in line with his or her purpose. This kind of faith is God-given.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)
Faith can be received by studying the scriptures, meditating and praying. If you spend quality time on these faith building activities, it becomes relatively easy to receive and act by faith. This in turn greatly enhances your likelihood of success.
